Fitting

We offer a variety of shoes designed to fit comfortably and be as durable as possible. However, choosing the right size is integral to your feet's comfort.

After receiving your Simple shoes order, we recommend trying them on in the afternoon. At this time, your feet have most likely swelled from the day’s walking. Therefore, you will be trying on the shoe whilst your foot is at its largest.

Additionally, try the shoes on both feet and walk around, as your feet tend to splay when you stand on them. These tips will help to give an accurate representation of what size is right for you.

All shoes run in US sizes.

Sizing and Fitting Tips

If your foot measures between sizes, always go with the larger size. For example, if your foot measures 258mm, you would buy a size 8.

We do offer a variety of half sizes, however, if these are out of stock and you are in between sizes, we recommend you go with the larger option. If necessary, you can use socks, insoles and laces to adjust a larger shoe to fit more tightly.

If your shoes are too small you’re likely to experience foot cramps, blisters and general discomfort when you walk. A larger shoe will often slip off your feet.

Your heel should not slip in a shoe and you should have room left to wiggle your toes comfortably.

Most people have one foot bigger than the other. This is perfectly normal and you should always accommodate the larger foot size.

Width-wise, the average for women is B, whilst the average for men is D.

Measuring your feet at home

If you’re unsure on your shoe size, it may be useful to measure your feet at home. This can be done simply and quickly.

To do this, you will need:

  • Paper
  • Ruler
  • Pencil/Pen
  1. Step down on a piece of paper and draw the outline of your foot. Alternatively, get a friend to help if you struggle bending down.
  2. To determine the length, use the ruler to measure the distance between your longest toe and your heel in millimetres.
  3. Compare this measurement with the size guides below to determine your size. Size Guide Please use this chart below as a guideline to determine your size.

Care

Care

Oiled Leather

Nourished with oil for added water resistance and durability with a soft sheen finish. Use a good oil based conditioner that absorbs the leather rather than clogs the pores.

To clean, first remove any laces and wipe with a soft dry cloth, condition and buff to shine. If leather is dampened avoid the risk of cracking and leave to air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Waxed Leather

Enhances rugged good looks and adds interesting variation with a wax finish, areas are become lightened where stretched. Maintain quality with a good wax based conditioner.

To clean, first remove any laces, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth, condition and buff to shine. If leather is dampened avoid the risk of cracking and leave to air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Tumbled Leather

Adds softness and a subtle sheen finish by a process of gentle abrasion from tumbling leather with small pebbles. Keep the quality using a suitable water and stain protector before wearing and after each clean.

Simply remove regular dust and dirt with a soft dry cloth. If leather is dampened avoid the risk of cracking and leave to air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Smooth Leather

Has a uniform and super-fine grain surface. Apply a suitable water and stain protector before wearing and after each clean.

Remove regular dust and dirt with a soft dry cloth. If leather is dampened avoid the risk of cracking and leave to air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Hemp or Canvas

Strong, robust and breathable. Use a suitable water and stain spray protector before wearing and after each clean.

Allow any mud to dry before gently brushing off. To remove deeper stains wipe with a soft cloth dampened in warm water with a chlorine-free neutral cleaning agent, applying gentle pressure by hand to avoid leaving friction marks. Let them relax and air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Suede

Leather is buffed and sanded down for a soft, velvety texture. Be sure to use a suitable water and stain spray protector before wearing and after each clean, avoiding wax polish as this will spoil the special finish.

Remove regular dust and dirt by moving along the grain with a suede brush, and a gum eraser for those scuffs. If suede is dampened allow to air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Hemp/Smooth Leather

A combination of weaved soft hemp and super fine grain leather. Use a compatible water and stain spray protector before wearing and after each clean.

Remove regular dust and dirt with a soft dry cloth. Allow any mud to dry before gently wiping off. For deeper stains use a soft cloth dampened in warm water using a chlorine-free neutral cleaning agent, applying gentle pressure by hand to avoid leaving friction marks. Allow air-dry naturally away from direct heat.

Suede/Smooth Leather

A combination of buffed softness and smooth leather. Use a compatible water and stain spray protector before wearing and after each clean.

Brush along suede to remove dust and dirt and a gum eraser for any scuffs, avoiding wax polish as this will spoil the special finish. On smooth leather simply wipe, then buff to shine with a soft dry cloth. If dampened, it is best to air-dry naturally away from direct heat.
